Your brain didn’t evolve for modern work.

Your brain didn't evolve for modern work.

Brain capital is business capital.

In a world shaped by uncertainty, complexity and AI-driven change, organisations succeed when their people can think clearly, adapt quickly and perform sustainably. Lab&Soul helps leaders create the conditions for healthy, focused and engaged brains to do their best work.

How I help

Helping people perform at their best in a demanding world.

Modern work places extraordinary demands on human capacity. Constant change, competing priorities, fragmented attention and the rapid adoption of AI are changing how we work — but the brains doing that work are still human.

I help leaders and organisations close the gap between what modern work demands of people and what humans actually need to perform at their best. Using psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science, I turn that understanding into practical support for the people doing the work.

Ways to work with me.

Support for leaders and organisations, grounded in how people actually think, behave and perform.

From 1:1 work with people carrying significant responsibility to organisational diagnostics and targeted workshops, I bring psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science into the realities of modern work.

Why Lab&Soul?

Understanding the human side of performance.

People don't operate in a vacuum. The way we think, make decisions, communicate and behave changes with pressure, uncertainty, workload, relationships and the environment around us.

Understanding what's happening beneath the surface changes what you do about it. What looks like resistance may be uncertainty. Indecision may be a response to pressure rather than a lack of confidence. A performance problem may have less to do with capability than the conditions someone is trying to perform in.

My background in psychology, neuroscience and stress research helps me look beyond the obvious explanation and ask better questions about what's really going on. I bring that perspective into my work with leaders and organisations to help them make better sense of the human challenges they're dealing with — and find practical ways forward.

When the human side gets harder.

Leading under pressure

When the weight of responsibility, uncertainty and competing demands starts to make clear thinking harder.

Sustainable performance

When success comes at the expense of energy, wellbeing or long-term effectiveness.

People, Change and AI

When new ways of working depend on people adapting, engaging and changing behaviour — not simply adopting new technology.

The Lab&Soul approach.

Understanding people. Improving performance.

My career began in pharmaceutical and stress research, studying the science behind how people think, feel and respond under pressure. Later, neuroscience and psychology gave me an even deeper understanding of what shapes behaviour and performance.

But I learned something equally important: understanding people is not the same as changing what happens at work.

Real workplaces are messy. People are busy. Leaders are under pressure. Competing priorities, uncertainty and constant change don't disappear because someone has learned an interesting piece of neuroscience.

That's why I created Lab&Soul.

I bring together psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science with the realities of modern work — turning evidence into practical ways to help people think clearly, lead effectively and perform sustainably.

Because understanding what makes people tick is useful. Knowing what to do with that understanding is what makes the difference.

Mission

To bring the science of human performance to life — through coaching and brain-based practical tools that create real, lasting change.

science-led support for people and performance

Where science meets action

FOR ORGANISATIONS

Better brains. Better businesses.

I help leaders, teams and organisations solve the human problems that get in the way of good work — from overload and burnout to leadership challenges, team dynamics and workplace culture.

Drawing on psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science, I turn evidence into practical strategies that help people think clearly, work better and perform sustainably.

Take the guesswork out of workplace performance

As a thriViae Associate, I work with Synata, a science-led workforce intelligence platform that uses data from your own people and organisation to identify the human and workplace factors affecting performance, wellbeing and development.

Built on a multidisciplinary evidence base and thriViae's Periodic Table of Workplace Thriving™, it reveals what's working, where pressure points lie and where attention could make the greatest difference.

Rather than starting with an off-the-shelf solution, we diagnose first, then decide where to focus.

Diagnose - Decide - Deliver - Embed

Before jumping to solutions, I help you understand what’s actually happening.

A short, evidence-based diagnostic tool looks at the human and workplace factors shaping wellbeing, performance and development — revealing strengths, pressure points and where attention is most needed.

It takes less than 10 minutes per person, but gives us a rich picture of where to focus.

What you get

• Clear, data-driven insight
• The strengths and pressure points that matter most
• Priority areas for action
• A practical roadmap for what to do next

Choose what happens next

Roadmap — A clear written summary of the findings, followed by a leadership session to explore the priorities, recommendations and practical next steps.

Roadmap + Delivery — The roadmap and leadership session, followed by targeted workshops or team sessions designed around the areas identified.

Roadmap + Delivery + Support — Everything above, with ongoing support to help turn insight into sustained change. This might include leadership coaching, team sessions, follow-up workshops and regular implementation check-ins.

The level and length of support are agreed with you after we review the findings, based on your priorities, capacity and existing resources.

Science-led learning that sticks.

Sometimes you already know where support is needed. I design and deliver engaging workshops that translate psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science into practical tools people can use straight away.

Popular workshop topics include:

  • Psychological safety
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Stress, resilience & sustainable performance
  • Human performance in the age of AI

Workshops can be delivered as one-off sessions or a short series, online or in person, and tailored to your organisation, audience and objectives.

Need something different? I can also design a session around a specific challenge facing your team or organisation.

Not sure where to focus? The Diagnostic & Roadmap can help identify where your investment will have the greatest impact.

For individuals

The higher the stakes, the more your thinking matters.

But however senior your position, your brain is still human.

You’re capable. You’re used to figuring things out. Other people rely on you to do exactly that.

Capability isn’t the problem. Capacity is finite.

When your head is constantly full — decisions, responsibilities, unfinished thoughts, competing priorities — it gets harder to see clearly.

Pressure changes how you think. Stress can narrow perspective. Cognitive load competes for finite capacity. Biases influence judgement precisely because you don’t know they’re there.

Yet you’re still expected to think clearly, make good decisions and lead.

Two ways to work with me
Sometimes you need focused space to untangle one immediate challenge and decide what to do next. Sometimes you’re looking for more sustained support to understand how you’re operating and create meaningful change.

A one-off 90-minute session for when life feels busy, noisy and slightly out of control.

You’re juggling work, life, responsibilities and everyone else’s expectations. You’re getting things done, but spending too much time firefighting, struggling to focus on what matters and wondering where your time and energy are going.

The Busy Brain Reset gives you 90 minutes to step out of reactive mode, work out what’s really going on and decide what needs to change.

Together, we’ll untangle what’s competing for your attention, identify what’s draining your capacity and get clear on where your time and effort will make the biggest difference.

You’ll leave with:

• A clearer understanding of what’s driving the overwhelm
• Clarity on what actually matters right now
• Practical actions tailored to your situation
• A realistic roadmap for moving forward
• A renewed sense of control and direction

Ideal if you know something needs to change, but you’re not quite sure where to start.

Space to Think is three months of dedicated 1:1 support to help you get out of the noise and protect the quality of your thinking when it matters.

I bring psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science where they’re useful — but this isn’t a course, and it isn’t generic coaching.

Think of me as an independent thinking partner: someone who can help you untangle what’s going on, challenge your thinking, spot patterns you’re too close to see and turn insight into practical change.

Over three months, you’ll have:

  • A 90-minute first session to properly understand what’s going on
  • Regular 1:1 sessions, shaped around what you need
  • Personalised reflections and feedback after each session
  • Email or voice-note check-ins between sessions to keep things moving
  • Flexibility to focus on what matters as things change

The outcome?

More headspace. Clearer thinking. Better tools for managing pressure. A deeper understanding of how you operate — and more capacity left for the life that exists outside your role.

What it's like to work with Lab&Soul

what the
clients say

This was really insightful and engaging, and very well delivered. I'd definitely attend a session from Leigh again

Better time management and motivation - having found and prioritised my 'why'. I thought Leigh was terrific. Assisted greatly in helping me realise what had to be done and how to do it. I'd thoroughly recommend her services.

I am very much a sceptic but I found this session very informative and enjoyable. Leigh's neuroscience background and her warm presentation certainly helped me overcome much of my aforementioned scepticism. Thanks

I went into the workshop slightly closed-minded but really enjoyed myself by the end, I like the informal and calm approach to the workshop and that you don't feel spoken down to about your faults
